Photo Journalism / Lifestyle Shoot: Crochet

My grandma is seriously one of the most talented people that I have ever met. She whips out afghans for both high school grads and babies in less time than it would take me to do a single row. She has the goal of making a full-sized afghan for each of her grandchildren by the time they graduate, and thus far has not missed one, she is about half-way through the 18 grandchildren. Crocheting is a big part of her life and so I wanted to capture her process from start to finish, including the enjoyment that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren receive from her blankets. My daughter seriously doesn't put her blanket down, it is her source of comfort. I loved this session because it involved my grandma, but I also loved it because it was all about capturing ordinary moments and hobbies.

Toddlers: Pumpkin Patch Take Two

I think that it is so much fun to take a toddler to a pumpkin patch let them loose and see what they discover! That is why toddlers are some of my favorite people to take pictures of, because they explore and play and disregard the camera which usually leads to some great candid photos. We went to the same exact pumpkin patch this year, but I think that the photos turned out quite different from last year.

Basketball Brad

This was a school photo session that we decided to have a little fun with. "B's" favorite thing about school is playing on the basketball team and so we inevitably need to involve a ball in this session. He acted really tough and hard core while playing around with the ball, but he had moments where he was a big softie and wanted his mom to be in a few pictures with him.

Senior Session: School Pride with S

"S" has some of the most enthusiastic school pride I have ever seen, which was really fun to capture during his senior portrait session. I had a hard time convincing him to take his hat off, but what teenage boy doesn't like to wear a hat? This session was fun because we brought a football along and with the assistance of some below the scene helpers, we were able to capture a few action shots with the football.
